WHY A CLIMBER
Anybody can drop a tree in an open field.
The trees that need a professional are the other ones. The bur oak leaning over a detached garage. The silver maple grown up through a service drop. The dead ash six feet off the neighbor's fence.
Those don't get felled. They get climbed, rigged and lowered in pieces on ropes, limb by limb, log by log, until there's nothing left but a stump and a clean yard. It's slower. That's the reason nothing gets broken.
Thirteen years doing exactly that is what Ground Up was built on. The company name is new. The climber isn't.

WHAT WE DO
Tree Removal
Rigged and lowered in sections when there's no room to drop it, over fences, sheds, service lines and roofs. Everything cut up and hauled, or left in rounds if you burn wood.
Trimming & Pruning
Cuts at the branch collar, on wood that's got a reason to come off. No topping. No lion-tailing. No spikes in a tree that's staying. Done right, you shouldn't be able to tell we were there in a year.
Stump Grinding
Ground out below grade so you can put soil and sod straight over it. Chips backfilled or hauled off, your call.
Storm & Emergency
Limb through the roof, tree across the drive, whole canopy in the fence line. We take those calls at night and on weekends.
Land Clearing
Fence rows, building lots, pasture edges, overgrown timber. Cut, cleared and hauled to grade.

On the ground, under the tree, in person. Nobody can price a removal off a photo, anyone who quotes you sight-unseen is guessing, and you find out how much when they're halfway through.

Emerald ash borer was confirmed in Shawnee County in June 2017. Nine years on, most untreated ash in and around Topeka are dead or getting there.
A dead ash is not like other dead trees. The wood goes brittle in a hurry, limbs let go with no warning, and past about the third year it isn't safe to put a climber in one. That's why the price climbs the longer it stands, and why fewer outfits will take the job at all.
Still holding good leaves? Treatment might be worth the money. More than half the canopy gone? It isn't, and we'll tell you that instead of selling you injections. Either way, call and we'll come look at it.
